May 17 is Norways Constitution Day - our National Day. We celebrate the day with childrens parades - all schools participate. My students are counting the days left. We are practising our songs and how to walk nicely in line - not so easy when your 6... May 17 is the day when you can eat as many ice creams as you want.
We also dress up - and for many Norwegians that means wearing our "bunad". Bunad is a traditional Norwegian costume (accepted as proper gala attire). Not exactly high fashion, but it's very practical. I don't have to worry about what to wear. So now i'm checking if everything is in place.
The shoes are ok. Still comfortable after 25 years (they need to be comfortable-there's a lot of walking that day).
My grandmother did the embroidery on my bunad. This motif is around the bottom edge of the skirt (8 times).
Tomorrow I'm handwashing and ironing my linen shirt.

This was not an installation. The note says: To the deers. Very nice of you to save one tulip. Hope the 150 others tasted good.
This is a field right beside my work. I think it's fantastic. All those flowers (we call them Night-and Day).

I love saturday mornings. No rush, the alarm clock is turned off and it's still much left of the weekend. I'm listening to the radio, looking at the mess in my livingroom (too much fabric and yarn, I do my crafting here). I will tidy up today, but first I'm going into town :)
I've been folding pieces of paper now and then. When I'm not doing anything else. I allways need to have my fingers busy. I haven't counted how many, but I had enough to finish this now. I'm a bit of a nerd, I guess...
Denne fann eg på bruktbutikken på tysdag. (Og lakenet den står på). Stavanger Flint er det. Eg har eit par tallerknar i same mønster - fann eg ut når eg kom heim :) Så no må eg berre halde augene oppe etter koppar.
Went by the thriftshop on tuesday and found this. I have a couple of matching plates (discovered that when I came home) - so now I have to look for the cups.
At last some crafting: Two new Babes is on the needles.

I've bought some books from amazon.co.jp. They have english versions of their pages now, so ordering was no problem. I don't read Japanese, but the book are well illustrated, so I think I will be able to do most of projects if I want to. And the photos are inspirating. My new books look so pretty :)
